Description

In a context of polluting deindustrialization, we are faced with the abandonment of thermal power plants throughout the Spanish geography.
The proposal aims to enhance the value of a cooling tower from a thermal power plant, providing it with a new use that prevents its destruction, recovering a very important part of history for the territory and its inhabitants.
The old concrete shell is filled with a new mixed-use building, housing a unique office complex and hotel. Wind actions on the structure are absorbed by the tower, thereby relieving the new building of significant loads, with the consequent savings in its load-bearing structure. At the same time, the concrete shell eliminates thermal gains from radiation, optimizing the energy performance of the complex.
